Movement II

For movement II, Owen Kramme and I tag-teamed an problem that involved a light source that could modify light to accommodate the needs of the user. The precedents of our lamp came from the tectonics of the Hoberman Sphere.

The scissor arms that Hoberman used were replicated and studied.

The lamp is designed as a basic u/v can on the top and then a mirrored can below that could be movable so that the light could be modified from a concentrated light source into a dispersed light source. The scissor arms let us accomplish the movement.

Physical Models of Movement I

The physical models begin to speak about possibilities for industrial design (Movement II). The undulating forms that are created could be further designed into varies other applications--sun/light shades, chair/benches, facade forms.
